Waakirchen - On Thursday (March 28th) there was an accident involving six cars on the B472 between Waakirchen and Schopfloch around 7:10 a.m.
Waakirchen: Overtaking maneuver causes accident involving six cars - seriously injured person taken to hospital by helicopter
“A previously unknown driver was driving on the B472 towards Bad Tölz and intended to overtake a truck in front of him,” explains the Bad Wiessee police. Despite oncoming traffic, the man tried to overtake. Because an oncoming Garmisch transporter made an emergency stop, there was no head-on collision. The driver of the overtaking car “did not comply with his legal obligations and left the scene of the accident without permission,” explains the police.
A Geretsrieder driving behind the transporter and a Tölzer driving behind it braked in time. “The Holzkirchner driving behind them was no longer able to brake in time and pushed the cars in front of him into each other,” explains the police. This caused the Tölzer to turn into oncoming traffic. He collided head-on with the car of an oncoming woman from Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
After an accident in Waakirchen: Seriously injured Tölzer first has to be freed from the car
The Tölz driver was seriously injured. The fire department freed him from his car. The man came to the Murnau Clinic in a rescue helicopter. The driver from Garmisch and the driver from Holzkirchen were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries.
There was already a serious accident in Kleinpienzenau this week. A car drove into oncoming traffic and two women lost their lives.
The police estimate the material damage from the accidents to be around 40,000 euros. The federal highway was completely closed for two hours. The Bad Wiessee police station is asking for information about the fleeing car whose driver caused the series of accidents by calling 08022/98780.
