Wolfratshausen - What began as small talk with two police officers ended in disaster for a young man from Wolfratshausen: for resisting a total of six law enforcement officers, the 26-year-old was sentenced to a fine of 3,600 euros by the Wolfratshausen district court.

“That was stupid of me,” said the defendant, looking back on his behavior at the cornfield party in Ascholding on August 5th last year. At around 10:30 p.m. he engaged riot police officers who were deployed as security forces at the open-air party in a conversation. According to the indictment, the police officers felt increasingly disturbed by his penetrating questions because the party guest was quite “drunk,” as he himself described his condition.

All sorts of strange and funny quotes: They were heard again last year in the Wolfratshausen district court. Our court reporter collected them.

At around 12:30 a.m. two officers accompanied the man from the premises and sent him off. The drunk ignored this. Half an hour later he showed up again at the festival. When the officers tried to expel him from the corn field again “with gentle force,” the defendant resisted massively, finally freed himself and ran back to the field. At around 1:50 a.m. the scene was repeated: This time four police officers literally had their hands full enforcing the expulsion of the Wolfratshauser.

“I’m incredibly sorry,” said the defendant, who has so far had no criminal record. He blamed “significantly too much alcohol” for his misbehavior. “Five beers and at least five cocktails, more likely more,” had produced a “fair amount of intoxication,” which a blood sample measured at 2.46 per mille.

Judge Helmut Berger sentenced the Wolfratshauser, as requested by the public prosecutor, to a fine of 90 daily rates of 40 euros each (a total of 3,600 euros). The fact that the defendant had shown remorse and admitted the allegations, which "spared the court from having to take extensive evidence" - the six police officers and possibly other witnesses did not have to testify in court - had a mitigating effect on the sentence.
