The Weilheim-Schongau district honored its successful athletes in a wide variety of sports in the Peißenberg Tiefstollenhalle.
Peißenberg - 72 individual athletes and 19 teams were presented with certificates and vouchers at the Weilheim-Schongau district's sports award. “With this award we want to make their successes visible,” said District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß in her welcoming speech. At the same time, she was pleased about the wide range of different sports from which the honorees came. “Promoting sports is also very important to the district,” the district administrator promised to continue to support the active people, the municipalities and the clubs in the future.
Franz Schlesinger, the district chairman of the Bavarian State Sports Association (BLSV), who once again took the lead in organizing the evening of honor, praised the great commitment of those present during his welcome. “May their achievements serve as a role model for other athletes in the district and be an incentive to emulate them,” explained Schlesinger, who also specifically emphasized the work of the volunteers and trainers in the clubs. “They are pillars of our society, without which youth care in its current form would not be possible,” added Schlesinger.
Stefan Rießenberger, Peißenberg local councilor and president of the local TSV, thanked Schlesinger and his team, but also the community. “We are well positioned when it comes to sports facilities,” said Rießenberger, who also emphasized: “That not only the first, but all athletes are winners.” The district administrator then, together with Schlesinger and BLSV district youth leader Fabian Schmähling, honored the successful athletes, who were awarded bronze, silver or gold depending on their performance.
