This is the first time she has broken the silence on the subject. Samantha Cohen, former assistant to Meghan Markle when she lived at Kensington Palace, has confirmed that she was one of ten people interviewed as part of an investigation carried out by Buckingham Palace. An investigation launched after accusations of intimidation and harassment made against the wife of Prince Harry, then Duchess of Sussex.
In March 2021, just days before Oprah Winfrey's explosive interview, the
Times
revealed that complaints had been filed against Meghan Markle. She was allegedly responsible for a hostile and toxic work environment while residing at Kensington Palace. If Samantha Cohen did not wish to say more, she nevertheless mentioned the turnover that existed within the staff.
“I was only supposed to stay for six months, but I stayed for 18 months - we couldn't find a replacement for me and when we did, we took Harry and Meghan on tour to Africa to show them the ropes, but they also quit while they were there,” the 54-year-old former assistant said in a recent interview with the
Herald
Sun.
And according to several sources, the relationship between Meghan Markle and Samantha Cohen, who left Kensington House in 2019, was “difficult”.
Compromising emails
Still according to the
Times
, Meghan Markle allegedly forced two aides to leave Kensington Palace in 2018. It is also reported that she sometimes made staff members cry. Allegations that the former duchess has always denied.
The couple's communications assistant at the time, Jason Knauf, also reported inappropriate behavior on the part of the Duchess of Sussex in October 2018. “I am very concerned that the Duchess was able to intimidate two personal assistants of the house over the past year. The treatment of X* was completely unacceptable,” reads the human resources report. “The Duchess seems to intend to always have someone in her sights,” Jason Knauf reportedly continued. “She intimidates Y and seeks to undermine her self-confidence. We have received numerous reports from people who witnessed unacceptable behavior towards Y.”
Accusations taken seriously by Buckingham Palace which then launched an investigation... without ever revealing the results.
