Munich – Leberkas has many fans, especially in the south of Germany. In Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg it is often enjoyed in a roll as a snack between meals. Like in Austria. Reactions are often correspondingly critical when Leberkas variants appear in supermarkets, butcher shops or privately. Now a daring creation split the internet.

Leberkas cordon bleu for 5 euros delights butcher shop customers – but “still feels wrong”

On Reddit, a user posted a photo showing a hand with a liver casserole. But the Leberkas looks unusual: cheese oozes out of the bitten piece of meat.

The Reddit user writes in explanation of his post: “Leberkas cordon bleu from the local butcher.” A Leberkas variant that you probably won’t find everywhere. But does it actually taste good? The user at least liked it: “It actually tastes great,” he said. But he frankly admitted: “It still feels wrong and it just costs five euros.”

Enthusiasm about Leberkas-Cordon-bleu: “Metzger deserves a Nobel Prize”

Meanwhile, the comments on the Reddit post didn't take long to arrive. Some users were very enthusiastic about the Leberkas cordon bleu. “It has to feel wrong for it to be really cool. 10/10 – would happily feast it in a corner in shame,” said one. “I think the butcher deserves a Nobel Prize,” it was said elsewhere, or “It looks unusually delicious.”

One user said: “It's not a crime, it's international understanding, plus a good dollop of Djionnaise and the whole of Central Europe will give in. Another announced: “I would beat that into my mouth so dishonorably.” Another Comment read: “Woah!!! This is genius."

For another user, memories of his own youth came back: “My school sold something like that back then, it was really good.” For another user it was clear: “I would have taken two. And twelve frozen." One asked: "Where is that? I'll buy the store!” This mystery couldn't be solved, even if some users claimed in the comments that Leberkas-Corodon-bleu was sold in Austria. “You can get it at every Eurospar in Vienna” and “The Spar in Austria had it for a while and thought it was really cool,” they wrote. The supermarket chain recently also made a vehement demand to “involve the Leberkas inquisition”.

There are also critical voices because of the daring liver casserole creation – “The picture makes my heart ache”

But there were also voices that were less enthusiastic about Leberkas' daring creation - quite the opposite. Even the post creator's note that the Leberkas was "filled with really spicy mountain cheese" and also "thickly breaded and incredibly crunchy" didn't change anything.

"Disgusting. Where is that? (Just so I know where I'm never going),” was one negative reaction. “Just the picture makes my heart ache,” another. “That’s not the German culture I represent,” said one with an ironic undertone. “Disgusting,” another Reddit user called the Leberkas-Corodon-bleu.

A liver cascade in Austria was also recently assessed as highly critical. When they saw them, many people asked themselves: “What the hell happened?”
