  • 180 ml milk, lukewarm

  • 1 pack of dry yeast

  • 70g sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 50 g butter, soft

Aside from that:

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 2 tbsp cream

  • Granulated sugar, to taste

  • Almond flakes, to taste

  • Colorful Easter eggs

The sweet Easter nests are easy to make thanks to these step-by-step instructions for yeast dough:

  • Place warm milk, yeast, flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, eggs, butter and salt in a bowl. Knead everything into a smooth dough and let it rise, covered, in a warm place for an hour.

  • Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces and form thin ropes out of them. Twist two strands together and form them into a circle. Press the ends together well. Place dough circles on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

  • Whisk the egg yolk and cream together and brush the nests with it. Decorate with granulated sugar and almond leaves if desired.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 170 °C top/bottom heat for about 20 minutes until light brown.

  • Remove the Easter nests from the oven and let them cool. Fill with colorful eggs, whether chocolate, marzipan or chicken eggs, hide them and enjoy when you find them.

  • Simple Tasty Tip:

For more variety, the yeast dough strands can also be filled with homemade poppy seed cake or a nut nougat cream before they are woven into Easter nests.
