A patient died in the fire that broke out this evening in the Fratelli Parlapiano hospital in Ribera, in the Agrigento area, apparently due to a cigarette that the man lit during an oxygen therapy session. The firefighters who responded to the scene found the body of the victim who had been trapped in the flames. The man, a 53-year-old Romanian resident in Canicattì, apparently removed his mask during an oxygen therapy session to which he was undergoing, lighting the cigarette and causing the explosion of the machine that supplied the oxygen. The other patients in the medical department were evacuated and transferred to the emergency room.
