The first Milanese act of the Depeche Mode "celebration" ended last night after more than two hours of concert.

Dave Gahan and Martin L. Gore inflamed the audience at the Mediolanum Forum in Assago for the first of the two Lombard dates of the Memento Mori tour 2024, the second Italian stage after the performance last March 23rd at the Pala Alpitour in Turin.

The concert opened with "My cosmos is mine", one of the songs from the latest album, performed live in a particularly powerful and engaging version, followed by another Memento Mori piece: "Wagging tongue". The new songs then left room for Depeche Mode's vast repertoire: a journey into their history that began immediately with "Walking in my shoes" from the 1993 album "Songs of faith and devotion" and then with "It's no good", an almost dance ballad from " Exciter" album from 2001.

Dave and Martin appeared in top form both physically and vocally: this was confirmed by Dave's sensual dances and Martin's clear voice when he sang "Strangelove", one of the singles from the album "Music for the masses". During the concert Dave found time together with the audience to sing happy birthday to 'Gaetano' one of the fans in the front line under the stage.

The performance was a crescendo between historic hits such as "Black Celebration", "Everything counts", "Just can't getenough", "Never let me down again" and "I feel you", songs from the new album and songs that have DepecheMode consecrated to history as "Enjoy the silence". The performance ended with a disruptive Personal Jesus: the audience stood and shouted, ready to repeatedly shout the refrain "Reach out, touch faith", demonstrating their "faith" for the band. See you tomorrow for the second concert in Milan.
