Willie Kirk, the coach of the Leicester women's team, was suspended a few weeks ago due to suspicion of an illicit affair with a female footballer. The decision to fire Kirk comes after further criticism and condemnations of relationships between players and coaches.

In February, the former Leicester manager, Jonathan Morgan, was sacked by Sheffield United after "new information came to light about his conduct" before he joined the club. After Kirk's suspension, assistant manager Jennifer Foster and first-team coach Stephen Kirby managed the team in the FA Women's Cup quarter-final against Liverpool.
