Belgian cyclist Arnaud De Lie has been diagnosed with Lyme disease. The 22-year-old suffers from this tick-borne disease, which other athletes before him have suffered from.
“We feel empty,” says Stéphane Tempier, a former mountain bike rider now aged 38. ‘Cycling is already hard on a daily basis, but then… At high intensity, the body no longer keeps up. Even recovery is difficult,’ says Tempier.
