Take-Two, creator of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) and NBA 2K franchises, announced a plan to reduce its workforce to "improve the company's margins while continuing to invest for growth," the company said. The group will eliminate current projects and thus reduce its human resources needs to make savings and increase its margins.

Take-Two is the latest company in a long list of technology companies to implement a social plan in 2024, after a year 2023 already marked by workforce reductions in this sector. According to the website Layoffs.fyi, 255 technology companies have laid off around 74,000 people in 2024. The highly anticipated "GTA VI" trailer released in December, showing chases, yacht parties, and, for the first time, a main female character, had been viewed more than 42 million times on YouTube almost seven hours after it was posted online.
