This is what we read in the latest draft of the conclusions of the EU summit, which will begin this afternoon. Yesterday it was already clear that the Council would endorse new sanctions against Tehran.
The EU stands ready to work with all partners to avoid a further escalation of tensions in the region, in particular in Lebanon. Italy had asked that the Lebanese dossier be included in today's summit of the 27. Today's summit will address the Middle East and Ukrainian dossiers, as well as the topic of relations between the EU and Turkey. The European Council calls on Iran and the groups act by proxy to cease all attacks and urges all parties to exercise maximum restraint and refrain from any action in relation to unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles. The text also "reaffirms its commitment to work. with partners to put an immediate end to the crisis in Gaza and implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 2728." The EU remains firmly committed to a lasting and sustainable peace based on the two-State solution. It recalls its strong support for the Lebanese people and recognizes the difficult circumstances that Lebanon is experiencing.
