José Mujica was president of Uruguay from 2010 to 2015. He is a former guerrilla, former prisoner, former president and favorite grandfather of the world left.
The 88-year-old says he is a Stoic, trying to cultivate a happy sobriety. Uruguay is second in the Americas, only behind Canada, in democracy, transparency and security, he says. He says: "The only miraculous thing there is for each person is to have been born, to live this adventure of life"
