Boris Ghirardi, 51, from Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), amputated part of his left leg after a motorcycle accident. To show that practicing sport is possible while being disabled or amputated, he founded the Level Up association.

He will be one of the bearers of the Olympic flame on May 18 in Auch (Gers). The Toulousain was equipped with a blade, designed with the Albi School of Mines and the Salomon brand, manufactured with carbon residue from the Airbus A350. Today he is a recognized ultra-trail athlete and has become an ambassador for the brands I-Run, Salomon, and Hopper, the start-up which manufactured his carbon blade. He also creates events to bring together the business world, high-level sport, and people with disabilities by sharing challenges with them. "Our first mission is to support amputees, to be the bridge between amputation and the resumption of a sporting life," he says.
