Pregnant sow gave birth on the island of Groix on March 16. She and her three cubs were killed by local hunters on March 25.

The local hunting association said the decision was made by the island's town hall. Local residents were angered by the decision, saying the animals should have been captured and released elsewhere in the world. The island's deputy mayor said at least one house had already been ransacked by angry residents. He added that the town hall had not given the order to kill the boars.
