Just under half (46.6%) of Italians declare "high satisfaction with life" In 2023, the share of satisfied people, which in 2022 had grown especially among the very young, also increased among 25-34 year olds (48.6%, +3.5 points compared to 2022). Satisfaction expressed by the population as a whole is stable and at high levels.

A generalized recovery in satisfaction with free time and friendly relationships is confirmed, especially among people aged 60-64. There are positive signs for personal economic satisfaction (shown by a share of 59.4%, +2.4 percentage points) and for work satisfaction (80.0% among employed people, + 2.1 percentage points). The Aspects of Daily Life survey detects satisfaction with citizens' living conditions through a variety of indicators. It measures how much individuals feel they are living a life that conforms to expectations beyond momentary contingencies. The survey was carried out by the Italian government's statistics agency, Istat.
