Iberdrola appointed Katya Somohano as the company's new general director in Mexico. The new manager replaces Enrique Alba, who spent 10 years in the position and will now return to Spain.

The company sees this appointment as one more step towards the development of clean energy in Mexican territory. "I assume this mission with great pride and responsibility," declared the person who until now was the director of Planning and Sustainability at the Spanish energy company. On February 26, Iberdrola sold 55% of its business in Mexico to the Government of Andres Manuel López Obrador. The Mexican Executive acquired 13 power plants from the SpanishEnergy company for 6.2 billion dollars. He also declared in an interview with EL PAS that the company had the idea of investing around 1.3 billion dollars in Mexican Territory. The Spanish Energy company was left with six wind farms, three photovoltaic, and six combined cycle (which generates twice as much energy)
