European elections 2024: Who can vote and who can’t?. Around 66 million people in Germany are eligible to vote in the 2024 European elections.

Germans and EU citizens who live abroad are also allowed to vote. The minimum voting age has been reduced to 16 years in Germany. For the first time in Germany, the voting age was lowered nationwide to 16. In the last European elections in 2019, around 5 million voters went to the polls. There are likely to be even more German first-time voters this year due to the lower voting age.
