Begoña Gómez, wife of President Pedro Sánchez, has been at the center of the political debate for weeks. Alberto Núñez Feijóo's party is leading an offensive against the couple, accusing them of conflict of interest and influence peddling.

To locate these supposedly corrupt links that the PP denounces, we must go back to 2018. This is a reconstruction of the known facts, divided into eight keys. In the Commission of Investigation of the PSOE Case, we will ask for certificates from the Council of Ministers to clarify whether Pedro Sónchez should have recused himself from decisions related to his wife's businesses. We will also ask if the president's wife should have been allowed to take part in the selection of the head of the IE University in Africa, which will be directed by her husband between August 2018 and June 2022. We are happy to make clear that this is not the case, and that the contract included incompatibility clauses to protect the parties and ensure that there was no practice that contemplated taking advantage of them.
