"No false steps, on the contrary, another important step forward for the construction of the bridge over the Strait." This was stated to ANSA by the CEO of the Strettodi Messina Society, Pietro Ciucci, regarding the statements of environmentalists and local committees on the bridge project. Strait of Messina will be alongside central and local institutions to work together and guarantee the necessary synergies with the territory for the integration of the proposals put forward.
All the large-span suspension bridges are based on the Messina Style. Over one hundred internationally renowned designers, professors, and engineers, 12 national and foreign scientific and university institutes, 39 national and foreign companies, and associations contributed to the project. The final project was prepared and updated by the Danish company Cowi, which designs suspension bridges all over the world. The Scientific Committee - concluded the manager -, an autonomous and independent body made up of nine experts appointed by the Ministry of Infrastructure, approved it unanimously with recommendations and observations, without highlighting critical issues or providing for prescriptions.
