Revolutionary Guard commander Ahmad Hagh-Taleb said Iran could respond in a similar way if Israel attacks Iranian nuclear facilities. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that "the construction and storage of nuclear bombs is wrong and their use is haram." In July 2022, he also said that Iran was technically capable of building a nuclear bomb.

International Atomic Energy Agency: Iran has produced 24.5 kilograms of uranium enriched up to 60 percent since October 2023. The 90 percent enriched uranium needed for a nuclear weapon can be produced within a week. The country is only a small step away from developing nuclear weapons, the IAEA said in a report last month. It added that inspectors had discovered worrying changes at the “Fordo’s” nuclear facility, which is located in the south of the country. The IAEA said that the country is now close to being able to produce a nuclear warhead with a fraction of the fuel needed for such a weapon.
