Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson will be in the cast of the 4th part, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy. Michael Morris, already known for The Transporter and The Iron Mask, will direct the film, which is scheduled to shoot in May.

As with the first two feature films, this film will be inspired by the latest novel, by Helen Fielding, at the origin of the saga. The casting risks arousing the curiosity of a new audience, with actors popular among younger audiences like Leo Woodall from One Life (Netflix) Bridget is now a widow with two children to support. Mark Darcy, his soul mate, played by Collin Firth, is said to have died in Sudan. The fifty-year-old, still lost in love, tries dating apps. Missing from the call is Bridget's latest crush: Jack Qwant. Played by Patrick Dempsey, the Grey's Anatomy actor has not yet been announced for this sequel.
