[HIGHLIGHTS] The Competition Authority against the Minister of Energy: "grave concern for the reliability of the electricity supply in the Gush Dan area"

Competition Commissioner Michal Cohen clarifies that, despite Minister Cohen's position, the construction of the two new power plants must be approved. "There is serious concern about the reliability of the electricity supply in Gush Dan," she says.

Cohen adds that competition due to the addition of stations will affect the lowering of theElectricity rate. The Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance and the Electricity Authority are currently working on recommendations to the government regarding the extent of the power plants needed in the near future. This is about 10-15 additional power plants in order to satisfy the electricity demand for electricity, even if the Israeli government sets very ambitious targets for the production of renewable energy from the rest of the energy sector.
