Supervised dairy products will become more expensive at a rate of 4.5% after Passover - according to the announcement of the Ministry of Agriculture.

As of May 1st, fresh milk in a carton (3) will become more expensive to the price of 7.11 NIS compared to 6.81 NIS today, a kilo of emek cheese will increase to 51.15 NIS compared to 48.95 NIS today. Other products that will become more expensive include white cheese, sweet and sour cream, Eshel, Gil, Gilboa hard cheese and fresh milk for its types (see table).

The increase in the price of the controlled dairy products will lead to a rolling price increase, in addition to other price increases that will come into effect at the beginning of May, including that of Diplomat, which announced the increase in the price of its products about a week ago.

Since it is a 0.6% increase in raw milk, which is used to produce delicacies, cheeses and milk that are not regulated, it is expected that the manufacturers, including Tnuva, Strauss and Terra, will soon announce the increase in the price of these products.

The Ministry of Agriculture stated that "as part of the automatic mechanism for updating the prices of milk and eggs, an update to the prices of dairy products will come into effect on May 1, 2024. The results of the periodic price calculation showed that the prices of dairy products under consumer supervision should be increased by an average rate of 4.48%."

They further explained that "according to the calculation in the milk, the update was affected by the current price increase in indices of 1.13%, as well as an addition of 3.35% as part of the price spread agreement from May last year, which was signed between the dairies and the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture, on the eve of the previous price increase. The current component was affected by the increases in the consumer price index ( 1.5%), in the wage index (2.7%) and in the price of raw milk (0.6%).

The price calculations are reviewed according to fixed formulas every six months to a year within an automatic mechanism that does not require the signature of ministers and takes into account the changes that have occurred in the main inputs in the production of the products considering the change in the input and price indices.
