The property tax has the unpleasant characteristic of increasing “automatically”. Since 2018, the rule has in fact been that the rental bases - which are used to calculate the variation in the tax at the national level - follow the inflation recorded from one year to the next between November and November. This year, this will therefore result in an increase of 3.9% on owners' bills. Although this increase remains higher than those that taxpayers may have experienced before the inflation crisis, it is slightly lower than forecasts, which expected an increase of around 4.2%. It is also almost a relief after the coefficient of 2023 (more than 7%), an absolute record since 1986, according to the National Union of Real Estate Owners (UNPI).
