After the Michelin stars, here are the Michelin keys. The famous red guide has just launched the Michelin keys, based on the model of Michelin stars for restaurants, to reward the best tourist accommodation. One key for a “singular stay”, two keys for an “exceptional stay” and three keys for an “extraordinary stay”.
If more than 5,000 “remarkable” hotels were preselected “in complete independence” in 120 countries, the Michelin guide unveiled this Monday the first hotel ranking of establishments in France. In total, 189 establishments were rewarded. 24 hotels achieved the feat of obtaining three keys, 38 obtained two keys and 127 others obtained one key.
No big surprises were noted among the establishments having obtained three keys. We find the presence of several Parisian palaces such as the Plaza Athénée, the Bristol, the Ritz, the Cheval Blanc and the George VI, as well as two highly rated palaces on the Côte d'Azur: the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc d'Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes) and the Grand Hôtel du Cap Ferrat located in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat (Alpes-Maritimes). Also on this list are Cheval Blanc and K2 Palace, both located in the Courchevel ski resort.

39 Parisian hotels rewarded
A true image of French hospitality, several castles have obtained two stars. This is particularly the case for Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey in Bommes (Gironde) and Château de la Gaude in Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône), both vineyard castles. As for Parisian hotels, we find the Royal Monceau, the Peninsula and the Shangri-La.
Among the hotels that have obtained a key, there are no less than 127 establishments spread across the 13 regions of France. There are notably three establishments in Brittany, three in Normandy and six in Corsica. Paris alone has 22.
