In the coming days, the Home Front Command will launch a campaign in the media to prepare the civilian population for the escalation in the north. This morning the Bank of Israel sent a widely distributed email to all banks, in which he emphasized that although the word "cash" is not mentioned in the television campaign, but only on the Home Front Command website, in order not to cause panic in the public, they must be prepared for a situation where the demand for cash will increase.
Behind the laconic message, worded in a restrained and almost diplomatic manner, is the fear that the public will attack the ATM machines to stock up on cash. Its distribution came to prevent past events of panic that gripped him and caused irrational behavior, which could have harmed the stability of the banks and the Israeli economic system.
One of them was in the middle of March 2020, at the beginning of the Corona epidemic, when the rush for cash emptied the ATM machines and the banks were on the verge of a "run to the bank" horror scenario.
Although several years have passed since then, the scenes seen at the beginning of the "Iron Swords" war caused the Bank of Israel to not trust the frontline command, which alarmed the public and called them to go out and stock up on water and food. Within a few hours the shelves were empty and for several weeks there were major shortages of mineral water and products dry
so that the Bank of Israel sends an unequivocal message to the banks in preparation for the opening of a powerful campaign, which may result in a prolonged Alta scenario: prepare for any scenario, preferably one hour before.

Bank of Israel: "The preparations in recent months also include stocking up with a sufficient cash stock"
The Bank of Israel's response: "The frontline command is expected to rise in the coming days with a public information campaign as part of the preparation for various scenarios. Further to what has been said, the Banking Supervision Department has informed the relevant parties in the banks about the rise of the campaign, so that they will act accordingly. This is an ongoing update process and nothing else.
"Bank of Israel and the banking system, are routinely prepared for the various scenarios. It is clear that the preparation in recent months also includes stocking up with a sufficient cash stock that will respond to any apparent level of demand."
