The earth shook again in Japan. An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 occurred Wednesday evening in the southwest of the archipelago, announced the American Geological Survey (USGS), without there being any alert issued. to the tsunami nor any damage reported.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in a channel that separates the islands of Kyushu and Shikoku, about 18 km west of Uwajima, at a depth of about 25 km, the USGS said.
A precedent in April
Japan is regularly affected by earthquakes. A magnitude 6.0 underwater earthquake shook the northeast of the country, off the coast of Fukushima department, on April 4. No tsunami warning had been issued, and local media had not reported any damage or casualties. The tremor occurred after a very violent earthquake near Taiwan, which left nine dead and more than 1,000 injured on the island, as well as extensive material damage.

Several hundred people also died after an earthquake on January 1 in the Noto peninsula, at the northern tip of Ishikawa department. With a magnitude of 7.5, it was followed by hundreds of other tremors which caused numerous buildings to collapse, spark fires and damage numerous infrastructures.
