Everything was in place to ensure that the matter would never be solved. “It is indeed a special and rare case since this man denounced his murder 13 years after the events, to free his conscience. He has the desire to explain himself before the Assize Court, while dreading this moment in front of the victim's family", underlines Me Cédrik Bréan, lawyer for Patrick C., 58 years old, tried this Thursday 28 and Friday 29 March in Toulouse in a case which could have remained a cold case. The Haute-Garonne Assize Court will look into the murder of Henri Rozes, 65, killed in his apartment in Plaisance-du-Touch, a town west of Toulouse, on the night of 5 to May 6, 2007.
The victim, stabbed with several stab wounds in his home located on the ground floor of a two-story public housing building, was found lifeless on May 7, 2007 by two neighbors, worried that they had not seen him for several days. . Investigators from the Mirail company's research brigade and the Toulouse research section quickly ruled out the theory of a burglary gone wrong, as no valuable object had been stolen from the victim's home. In addition, the door to the apartment was locked and could not be found. The investigators therefore focused on the entourage of this former municipal gardener who became hemiplegic following a stroke.
