It's testing time for the Maserati MCXtrema, which will be busy on the track until the end of April, to complete the development before the delivery of the first example, which is expected by the end of the summer.
The sports car intended for track use only, and made in just 62 examples, represents the maximum expression of Maserati DNA and has given proof of its racing temperament between the curbs, during a series of fundamental tests to collect the data necessary for completion of development.
The extreme evolution of the MC20 made its first official outing in February, at the Varano de' Melegari racetrack (Parma), driven by Andrea Bertolini, Maserati chief test driver, and one of the most successful drivers in the GT categories, with four titles world championships won at the wheel of the glorious MC12.
On the MCXtrema the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine, derived from the Nettuno engine of the MC20, delivers 740 HP, for performance worthy of a racing car, but presents a high degree of reliability thanks to appropriate checks, followed up every 4 years development for the MC20.
