Maccabi Tel Aviv has started talks to extend Oded Ketch's contract. The coach who took office last summer ends his contract at the end of the season, and the team wants to keep him and secure his future even before the summer, for the last stretch of the season.
Along with the opening shot of the negotiations, Maccabi Tel Aviv is afraid of the possibility that Hapoel Jerusalem will offer the coach a bigger contract and try to bring him back to its ranks. The Reds, led by Matan Adelson, may offer him a bigger contract, which will make the deal more difficult for Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Ketch led the yellows last season to winning the championship and the Euroleague playoffs, and the option to keep him for another season stipulated in the contract was exercised. The success continues this season as well, and Ketch copes well with the difficult circumstances that accompany the Yellows' season, including hosting almost all home games in the Euroleague in Belgrade.
Is Jerusalem lurking? Ketch/Barney Ardov
Maccabi Tel Aviv is ranked seventh in the Euroleague, and has already secured at least a place in the playoffs. In the Premier League it is ranked first, above Hapoel Tel Aviv. The Yellows are on a streak of 15 wins in all competitions, including 6 wins in the Euroleague.
