Passion has no limits. For this reason, as soon as they saw the black trunk of the Flecha Bus that was bringing the
River
team from the airport, emotion began to run through the veins of the fans who were at the door of the
Quinto Centenario
hotel . Flags waved, flares were lit, red and white smoke covered the atmosphere, and pyrotechnics exploded into the air. The scene was repeated a while later at the
Holiday Inn
hotel , about ten minutes from the
Mario Alberto Kempes
stadium , which is the bunker chosen by
Boca
to await this Sunday's duel for the quarterfinals of the League Cup. . The same passion, the rags and the fireworks, but all in blue and gold. It was the disembarkation of the group led by Diego Martínez. But better to go in parts and in chronological order.
Flag for River
River was received by thousands of fans, in a celebration organized by the club's subsidiary (Córdoba together with River) in this province. And once the bus, escorted by a couple of patrol cars and police motorcycles, entered the hotel esplanade, the court songs dominated the scene. “River, my good friend,” was intoned strongly. And other songs more dedicated to the eternal rival followed. “La Boca and Avellaneda are going to burn and as always La Doce is going to run non-stop,” was one of the hits.
But there was more. And Martín Demichelis and the players gave a surprise to the fans, crowded against the fences. The coach and the players approached them to sign autographs and take photos. The fans hugged them, encouraged them and asked them for a win. They were elated. Especially with Miguel Borja, Franco Armani and with Pity Martínez, who, despite being injured, also came to Córdoba. No one stayed in Buenos Aires.
“We are going to beat them 2-0 with goals from Borja, I told that to the black man,” Pablo de Haedo, who arrived this Saturday morning to watch the Superclásico, shouted like crazy. “We are going to have them face us on a field again. Do you remember when was the last time? They are not forgotten anymore, ha”, Martín, from Córdoba who plays at home, chicaneado, in reference to the final in Madrid. “After that they didn't want to play the summer friendlies anymore,” adds Fernando, from Río Negro. “I'm excited because Pity signed my shirt,” added Lucila, from Córdoba, who shows a shirt with the signatures collected from other Millionaire visits to Córdoba.
River is already in La Docta, where it was blessed with the warmth and color of its fans to be ready for another superclassic duel.
The landing of Boca
The reception of the fans for the Boca team, who stayed in a hotel far from the center and closer to the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium, was less numerous, but just as loud.
Around 1,000 fans came to the Holiday Inn to cheer on the team led by Diego Martínez. And as expected,
Edinson Cavani
was the most applauded. El Matador stole all the attention and was the footballer who spent the longest time signing autographs and taking photos. "Uruguayan/Uruguayan/Uruguayan" was heard several times.
Not all Boca players made contact with the fans, but the references did. Marcos Rojo, Luis Advíncula, Ezequiel Fernández, Nicolas Figal, Kevin Zenón, Miguel Merentiel and Luca Langoni were the others who came forward. Among those absent were Sergio Romero and Guillermo Fernández.
The one who was face to face with the fans was coach Diego Martínez, who between photos they asked for the victory against River.
It is worth clarifying that most of the supporters came from the towns near Córdoba Capital and almost none of them had tickets to see the Superclásico. It is understood: the sale was made online and with priority for members, so the bulk of those who will be at Kempes will arrive at Docta on the same Sunday morning.
