Moroder has created some of the most iconic soundtracks in the history of cinema, receiving three Oscars, four Golden Globes, and two Grammy Awards for the music of Alan Parker's Midnight Express and Adrian Lyne's Flashdance. He wrote the anthem for the Olympic Games of Los Angeles 1984, Seoul 1988, and Beijing 2008, and the hit "Un'estateitaliana" for the 1990 World Cup. In 1984, Moroder produced a new version of Metropolis, Fritz Lang's immortal masterpiece.

    Pioneer of disco and electronics, Giorgio Moroder, born on 26 April 1940 in Ortisei, is one of the great Italian excellences in the world, an extraordinary artist known globally. During his exceptional career, Moroder has created some of the most iconic soundtracks in the history of cinema, receiving three Oscars©, four Golden Globes and two Grammy Awards for the music of Alan Parker's Midnight Express and Adrian Lyne's Flashdance; the song "Flashdance... What aFeeling" and the instrumental composition "Love Theme" (both in Flashdance); the song "Take My Breath Away", a global success launched by Tony Scott's film Top Gun. Moroder's work contributed to the popularity of numerous other memorable titles, from American Gigolo by Paul Schrader to Scarface by Brian De Palma, from The Neverending Story by Wolfgang Petersen (with Klaus Doldinger) to Over the Top by Menahem Golan.


   Over the years, the artist has worked with some great names in the history of music, including Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Cher, David Bowie, wrote the anthem of the Olympic Games of Los Angeles 1984, Seoul 1988 and Beijing 2008, and the hit "Un'estateitaliana" for the 1990 World Cup.


   In 1984, Moroder produced a new version of Metropolis, Fritz Lang's immortal masterpiece, colored and reduced in duration, with a rock soundtrack which saw the participation of musicians such as Freddy Mercury, Bonnie Tyler and Pat Benatar.


   In 1989, at the thirty-fourth edition of the David di Donatello awards, Moroder received a nomination for the award for Best Original Song for the soundtrack of Mamba by Mario Orfini.


   The South Tyrolean artist was awarded over one hundred gold and platinum records and two further Grammys: one for the song "CarryOn", performed by Donna Summer, and one for the collaboration on the album "Random Access Memories" by Daft Punk. In 2004, Moroder was inducted into the "Dance Music Hall of Fame".
