Tuesday around 3 a.m., the police were called to 17 for a motorcycle theft. In the 3rd arrondissement, a witness had just seen on rue Cazeneuve a motorcycle, on which there were two men, towed by another vehicle using a strap.
“A method of operation commonly used by two-wheeler thieves
,” specifies the DDSP of Rhône.
The police quickly began looking for the motorcycle and were attracted by a vehicle matching the description with three men on board. During the check, they found that the suspects were already unfavorably known to the police. The 23-year-old driver and one of the passengers were respectively the subject of a search card.
The vehicle returned to its owner
In full view of the police, the two passengers, also aged 23, hid a pair of gloves and a strap, which would have been used to tow the motorcycle. During their hearings, they partially admitted the facts. One of the passengers indicated the location of the stolen motorcycle. This was found behind a bush located on Boulevard des Études (Lyon 8th). The two-wheeler was returned to its owner who filed a complaint.
The suspects were presented to the prosecution on Wednesday for immediate appearance for “aggravated theft”.
