Italdesign: innovative style with references to tradition

2024-04-17T16:05:53.221Z

Highlights: The Asse di Picche in Movimento concept car, presented at the Fuorisalone del Mobile in Milan, is not just a reinterpretation of an iconic car. It is a study that addresses the theme of sportiness and originality in an innovative way but with references to tradition, as Joaquin Garcia, design director of the Piedmontese company, explains. Starting from the front, "we took the cut nose and four headlights, reinterpreting them with our Italdesign logo and DRL daytime running lights." The purity of the original car was also revived with the use of glass because today we are in the digital age. The car also celebrates the Ace, and the body also becomes a dress for the car's architecture, as well as the "c" pillar which expresses forward movement. The result is a completely new concept but with clear hints to the past, as Garcia explained to Ansa Motori during the Design Week catwalk in Milan.

The Asse di Picche in Movimento concept car, presented at the Fuorisalone del Mobile in Milan, is not just a reinterpretation of an iconic car like the Asse di Picche, presented 50 years ago by Italdesign. It is a study that addresses the theme of sportiness and originality in an innovative way but with references to tradition, as Joaquin Garcia, design director of the Piedmontese company, explains.

The exercise, challenging from numerous points of view, started from the "analysis of the original car - clarifies the designer himself -. We identified the most important elements by reinterpreting them freely, because we did not want to do a retrodesign but to be as innovative as the car had been original".

The result is a completely new concept but with clear hints to the past, which Garcia explained to Ansa Motori during the Design Week catwalk. Starting from the front, "we took the cut nose and four headlights, reinterpreting it with our Italdesign logo and DRL daytime running lights. The purity of the original car was also revived with the use of glass because today we are in the digital age" .

As regards the side, underlines Garcia, "The purity of the parallel and tense lines, also linked to the use of the drawing board and plaster models in the design phase, have been respected but now they are more inclined and more dynamic because even the world , in this digital age,

    is

more dynamic and faster. We also wanted to be more sensual, more three-dimensional for example in the rear wheel passage which is much more expressive, also due to the different architecture.

safer and the body also becomes a dress for the car's architecture. Then there is the "c" pillar which expresses forward movement.

Finally, at the rear, "we can recognize - clarifies the designer - the 13 bars of the Italdesign logo, like a horizontal island that maintains the purity of the original vehicle. The car also celebrates the Ace of Spades in a fun way with a playful logo".

An important result, the result of careful teamwork, as underlined by Garcia who, at the end of his speech, thanked his main collaborators, Gaspare Conticelli for the exterior design, Alessandro Rota for the interior and Luca Bonassi for color and trim. "Together with them the modeling and design teams who made the realization of this concept possible."
