Some residents of Libourne, in Gironde, were surprised to see smoke coming out of their gutters or spreading into their street on Monday. Harmless clouds distributed as part of the master plan, which involves checks every ten years. The objective of this maneuver is to detect
“non-conformities”
between the rainwater and wastewater networks, the two circuits of which must be distinguished and closed, specifies Louise Brat, engineer for the Altereo design office. .
Concretely, in the streets where the houses were poorly connected, the smoke could escape, for example, through the gutters, thus making it possible to identify a malfunction. Seven to eight homes were thus detected in the industrial zone, north of Libourne. They will undergo the necessary work soon.
To reassure its population, the City of Libourne communicated on its social networks on Monday, very simply advising to open the windows in the event
of “intrusion of significant smoke”
into the houses.
