Two cars collided head-on on the Moosburg Isar Bridge on Tuesday (April 16). One reason for the serious accident is probably the condition of the person responsible.
Moosburg
- A serious traffic accident with several people, some seriously injured, took place in the Moosburg city area on Tuesday evening (April 16th). The extent of the accident on the Isar Bridge surprised even experienced emergency services.
The helpers were alerted at around 7:20 p.m. after the control center received an accident report from the automatic emergency call system eCall. A large contingent of forces from the Moosburg volunteer fire department, the rescue service and the BRK's “on-site helpers” immediately set off. On site they found two cars whose fronts were completely destroyed.
Rescue helicopter in action after an accident on the Moosburg Isar Bridge
According to police investigations, a 43-year-old from the Freising district was driving his Cupra Leon out of town on Landshuter Straße (St 2350) when he got into the left lane after the curve to the Isar bridge. A Ford Transit, occupied by three men, was coming towards him. The two cars collided head-on on the bridge.
Due to the force of the collision, the 58-year-old driver and a passenger of the same age were so seriously injured that they had to be taken to hospital by emergency services. In the case of another passenger (57), the emergency doctors decided to request a rescue helicopter for him. He was flown to a Munich clinic.

Criminal proceedings initiated against those responsible for the accident
The 43-year-old who caused the accident also suffered minor injuries that had to be treated in hospital. The police also ordered a blood sample because the officers found him to be heavily intoxicated: According to Christian Bidinger, head of the Moosburg PI, a corresponding test showed a value of 1.9 per mille. The man's driver's license was confiscated and, according to the police chief, he now faces criminal charges for endangering road traffic and negligent bodily harm.
A total of 25 volunteers from the local fire department provided initial medical care for the injured until everyone could be treated further by the emergency services. In addition to fire protection and traffic safety, the Moosburg Floriansjünger set up a landing site for the rescue helicopter. Due to the necessary closure of State Road 2350, there was a lengthy backlog at times. As the operation progressed, the scene was illuminated to record the accident and handed over for street cleaning.
Police call for witnesses
After around three hours, the helpers were able to leave again. Both cars in the accident were towed away; the police estimate the damage to the property at around 50,000 euros. In order to reconstruct the accident, the PI Moosburg asks any witnesses to call (08761) 30180.
