2024-04-16T08:42:03.614Z

Highlights: Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote this on social media, underlining that "our task today is not to forget and to condemn without ambiguity the cruelty of that dramatic page in our history" Two of Mattei's sons lost their lives in the fire: Virgilio, aged 22, and little Stefano, a child of just 10, survived in the flames. A terrible massacre, two innocent young lives shattered by political hatred. No more hatred and political violence, Meloni writes on her social media account. The fire took place on 16 April 1973 in the working-class neighborhood of Primavalle in Rome. It was started by militants of Potere Operaio, an offshoot of the Italian Social Movement. The cause of the fire has never been determined, according to the Italian government. The prime minister's office has not commented on Meloni's social media post.
