A 79-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being crushed by an Ilevia bus in Tourcoing (North) on Saturday April 13, according to information from BFMTV.
The incident occurred when the victim was getting off the bus at the Anatole France stop and the automatic door of the bus closed on the septuagenarian's shopping bag, trapping her and preventing her from freeing herself.
Driver in custody
The victim then finds himself outside the vehicle, but with his hand stuck in the handles of his bag. When the bus restarted, the septuagenarian fell to the ground before passing under the vehicle, a police source told our colleagues. She died from her injuries.
The driver, who was taken into custody, said he did not notice anything in his mirrors when he drove off. Alcohol and drug tests were negative.
