Five people, presented by a judicial source as relatives of the

Federici clan

, were indicted Thursday evening by a Bastia investigating judge in a case of

“prohibited gambling and chance”

, indicated Friday the Bastia prosecutor. According to a confidential note from 2022 from the national police, consulted by AFP, which lists 25 criminal gangs across the Isle of Beauty, the Federici clan, called

“the robber shepherds of Venzolasca”

, is suspected of having been

“involved in numerous attacks on banks”

in France,

“in the racketeering of night establishments, bars and restaurants (...) in the Marseille, Aix and Étang de Berre regions”

, as well as

“in the very lucrative Parisian gaming circles

.

Arrested Tuesday by the gendarmes of the research section in the village of Venzolasca (Haute-Corse), the five people were indicted as part of

“a judicial investigation opened for the leaders of organized gang operations "prohibited gambling and gambling, money laundering and lack of proof of resources

," Jean-Philippe Navarre, public prosecutor of Bastia, told AFP, confirming information from

. Two of them were placed under judicial supervision and the three others in pre-trial detention, said the magistrate.

This 35-year-old man is suspected by investigators of managing the affairs of his father, Ange-Toussaint Federici, sentenced to 30 years of criminal imprisonment in 2012 for the

“Marronniers massacre”

, the assassination of Farid Berrahma, a Marseille boss , and two of his lieutenants, on April 4, 2006 in Marseille.

Pierre-Jules Federici was sentenced in April 2018 for misuse of corporate assets to 18 months in prison, suspended by the Marseille criminal court. He had been found guilty of having held a fictitious job within Casinc'air freight, a Basti-based air freight company bought by his family in 2005. In the clan,

“the role played by Pierre-Jules Federici (... ) has become dominant, even if he seems to be taking his father's instructions
