Accused of having beaten his disabled 5-year-old son to death during confinement, Sébastien D. faces justice

On April 16, 2020, Yamine, a 5 and a half year old boy with multiple disabilities, died of cardiac arrest in Noyon (Oise), following a blow to the head.


On April 16, 2020, shortly before 9 p.m., firefighters from Noyon (Oise) were called to the bedside of a child suffering from convulsions. On site, the doctor noticed a cardiac arrest. Yamine, a 5 and a half year old boy with multiple disabilities, died during his transport to hospital. His father, Sébastien D., 40 years old, has been on trial since Thursday March 28 for two days by the Oise Assize Court for “involuntary manslaughter and assault and battery leading to death without intention of causing it”.

It was in fact a traumatic shock to the head which caused “a subarachnoid hemorrhage” and the death of the child. Questioned by investigators, Sébastien first explains that “his son, who was laughing and playing upstairs, fell while he was preparing his dinner”. A testimony quickly cast into doubt by the gendarmes of the Compiègne research brigade, who suspect a case of mistreatment.
