“A father remains a benchmark,” says Adam K., 25, when the president of the court asks him what he might have felt when he died when he was only 16 years old. The young man has been on trial since this Wednesday and for a week before the Seine-Saint-Denis Assize Court for the kidnapping and sequestration of Brayan C. in May 2021.
The victim was 21 years old when she was kidnapped by a gang in a parking lot in Noisy-le-Grand. She was then taken to an underground car park in La Courneuve to be beaten and abandoned in a sad state. For this first day of hearing as for the following ones, Brayan is absent from the civil party benches. He is currently imprisoned in Portugal for a dark story of theft. He will be heard by videoconference on Tuesday April 2.
