The small Gironde village of Saint-Mariens, home to 1,597 souls, required the intervention of the GIGN on Tuesday. A violent altercation had broken out a few hours earlier, in the morning, between a father, his son and two other people.
“While the latter were leaving the scene, several shots were fired in the direction of their vehicle, leading in particular to the explosion of the windshield
,” describes the Libourne prosecutor's office. The two targets also indicated that they had been
“threatened”
by the father and his offspring.
Crisis unit
Facts, after which the father and his son, armed, returned home while a crisis unit was set up at the town hall. The son, and a young man who accompanied him, left the home early in the afternoon, before being placed in police custody.
An intervention by the GIGN was necessary to obtain the surrender of the father, who was finally arrested without violence. An investigation, opened for “attempted murder”, is underway. She was entrusted to the Blaye gendarmerie research brigade.
