Everything you need to know about a curved penis/@krysmay/
According to reports, this rare case happened to a 27-year-old man from Tunisia, who rolled over on his erect penis while sleeping, and woke up to a cracking sound, which was immediately followed by severe pain, flaccidity and swelling in the entire area.
However, despite the strong pain and swelling, about 36 hours passed before the man decided to go to the emergency room to receive urgent medical treatment. "Penile fractures, although rare, require urgent surgical treatment due to their serious consequences," wrote the researchers who published the case analysis in International Surgery of Case Reports.
The medical staff who first saw the young man at the hospital described to the study editors that the swelling in the 27-year-old's loin area was extensive and significant and his penis deviated abnormally to the right side, with a blood clot at its base.
The young man suffered from what is informally known in the medical world as "eggplant deformity", in which the penis becomes swollen and purple, looking like an eggplant. Such a situation indicates that the organ is indeed suffering from a fracture.
While the penis is technically boneless, the word "fracture" is used to describe a tear in the tunica albuginea - the sheath of the penis, the tissue that allows the penis to expand and erect.
After receiving general anesthesia, the surgeons opened the penis shell and discovered that the man did indeed suffer from two fractures, one measuring 7 millimeters and the other measuring 10 millimeters.
Fortunately for the young man, the doctors were able to repair the fractures. After that, the penile sheath was re-stitched and he was released from the hospital. On the second day, the swelling decreased significantly and on the fourth day the young Tunisian already reported a return to normal function, including a full erection.
Fortunately, the patient suffered no long-term problems with urination or sexual function as a result of the rare event he experienced. "During a follow-up period of 12 months, the patient did not report any complications," the doctors concluded.
