The associations and collectives of transgender people, with a joint note, ask to be convened at the technical table, announced by the Ministers of Health Orazio Schillaci and the Family Eugenia Roccella, on gender dysphoria in minors, starting from the use of triptorelin, the puberty blocking drug.
"The establishment of the government technical table has not seen, at the moment, any dialogue with those associations that have been dealing with the health of trans people for decades", reads the statement signed by various associations including Movimento Identità Trans, Libellula, Acigay , Mario Mieli, Gay Net, Agedo, Rainbow Families, Casa delle Donne Lucha y Siesta.
According to a 2016 study, the associations recall, "with 40% of young trans people at risk of suicide, therapy with triptorelin reduces this dramatic possibility by 70%. Therefore, add the signatories, "we believe it is necessary to directly involve our realities, in order to avoid the risk that the table could be directed and led by those who up to now have led an ideological crusade against our community, denying and marginalizing the needs of the people smaller trans," the note concludes.
