A great first. Saudi Arabia will participate for the first time in its history in the Miss Universe competition at the end of next September. The Kingdom, often singled out for its treatment of women, will be represented by model Rumy Alqahtani.
It was the main interested party herself who made the announcement on her Instagram account, followed by more than a million people. “I am honored to participate in the Miss Universe International 2024 pageant. This is Saudi Arabia's first participation in the Miss Universe pageant,” she wrote, posting photos of herself wearing a sparkling tiara and a sequin dress proudly holding the Saudi flag.

Originally from Riyadh, the Saudi capital, Rumy Alqahtani is well known in her country but also in the beauty pageant industry. Indeed, she participated and won several competitions such as Miss Saudi Arabi, Miss Arab Peace and Miss Middle East.
Miss Universe is the world's largest beauty pageant, organized by the Miss Universe Organization (MUO), headquartered in the United States, Mexico and Thailand.
