Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is at the 'Millevoi' base in Shama, where Italian contingents deployed in Lebanon are stationed

. The Prime Minister wants to bring to the military, in particular on the occasion of the upcoming Easter holidays, the gratitude and closeness of the Government and Italy for the commitment made in a significantly deteriorated security framework, to protect international peace and security, in in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions. Meloni will meet the forces employed as part of the Unifil mission and a representation of soldiers from the bilateral Italian military mission in Lebanon (Mibil).

"You are not there during the holidays with your family, you are not there for your friends, your boyfriends and girlfriends, wives and husbands: you give up everything

to guarantee that peace that so many, especially at this moment, fill their mouths with sitting comfortably from the sofa of their home.

Because peace is not built with feelings and good words, peace is above all deterrence and commitment, sacrifice

." Thus Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a speech to the Italian contingent in Lebanon.

"These are difficult days in the Middle East, in Europe, in the world.

When there is a fire the risk is always the same, that the flames fly quickly from one tree to another and cannot be put out. We have to do everything we can possible to avoid the risk and you are the moat, the sand barrier that helps keep the fire from progressing" said Meloni.

"I came here today above all to say thank you, on behalf of Italy for choosing to wear a uniform

. Thank you for understanding that wearing that uniform means knowing how to use both your head and your heart. Thank you for studying, because you also knew that wearing that uniform imposes professionalism and competence. Thank you for agreeing to come all this way to Lebanon, where for decades our armed forces have constituted a fundamental piece of the Unifil mission. A mission that is indispensable for our nation, in a land that is cradle of great civilisations, which for a long time was also a model in the capacity for coexistence between different traditions and religious confessions". Thus Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in her speech in Lebanon to the Italian contingent in Lebanon, at the 'Millevoi' base in Shama. Lebanon is "a nation to which Italy is linked by a long history of friendship, which plays a fundamental role in maintaining balance in the Middle East. Here - added Meloni - in addition to the work we carry out within the framework of the Unite Italy also declines its commitment at a bilateral level with the Mibil mission, which trains and supports the Lebanese security forces who are in turn essential to safeguard the institutional framework of this nation. It was important work yesterday and becomes fundamental today ".
