Pixi books recall: Detection of BPA – “Relevant toxicological risk can be excluded”
The publisher has commissioned a toxicological report from the Eu Directives Consultancy (EuDiCo).
The experts came to the following conclusion: “A relevant toxicological risk caused by BPA when using the books can be ruled out.” Experts also expressed health concerns about children's plush items from Rewe;
they also had to be recalled.
To be on the safe side, the Carlsen publishing house has announced that, as a precautionary measure, the titles of the entire production batch will be recalled.

What you should know about the ingredient bisphenol A (BPA) in the Pixi recall
Bisphenol A is an industrial chemical used to make certain plastics and epoxy resins.
These in turn are used to produce food containers and sometimes toys.
The chemical has already been detected in canned food and tap water.
In 2023, scientific experts from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) conducted a reassessment of the risks of BPA in food.
They found that “dietary exposure […] poses a health risk to consumers in all age groups.”
According to the experts, this could have harmful effects on “the health of the immune system”.
According to information from the German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation (BUND), infants and small children are particularly sensitive to hormone-like pollutants.
This puts the hormonal system at risk, and the liver, kidneys and mammary glands can also be attacked.
The Carlsen publishing house advises on its website that those affected should contact the publisher using the contact form with the subject “Complaint”.
Toys that were available to buy at Lidl only had to be recalled in February.
