Introduction to the Republic of Verdis/verdisgov.org

It is true that these days we all express solidarity with the situation in the country and feel the most patriotic and Zionist there is, but the idea of leaving the country and finding our place in exile has occurred to many of us many times, especially last summer when thousands went out to demonstrate against the coup d'état and feared for the fate of democracy.

Not all residents are satisfied in Britain either: a 14-year-old young man decided he had had enough and wanted to establish his own country with his own laws, without corruption and without wars.

Instead of leaving it as a fantasy, he decided to put his plan into action.

Then they met Daniel Jackson, the president of the Free Republic of Wardis - a republic that he himself founded and thus became the youngest president in the world.

The teenager didn't just declare a small area in his yard as a separate country but found a real area - a tiny strip of land between Serbia and Croatia that is not owned by either country.

If the land does not belong to anyone, then why not take ownership of it?

So that's exactly what Daniel did.

Daniel Jackson was originally born in Australia but moved to Britain at a young age.

Today, when he is 19 years old, he functions as the president of the Vardis Republic and has several hundred residents and thousands more who are interested in joining.

The only problem is that he is currently not living in his country, as the Croats heard of his invasion of what they consider their territory and decided to expel him from there.

He intends to take this case to the international court to prove that the territory does not belong to the Croats and that they have in fact violated international law.

Daniel said that in 2019, when he was 14 years old, he came to the conclusion that he was not satisfied with his life in Britain and decided to create a new life for himself far away from there.

Along with six of his friends, he found a small piece of land between Serbia and Croatia, on the banks of the Danube River, and after extensive research, decided to claim ownership of the land.

Technically, the land was indeed not owned by any other entity at the time, due to disagreements regarding historical boundaries.

Daniel took the bold leap and declared himself president of the micro-state before naming his new home the "Free Republic of Vardis".

Vardis covers an area of only half a square kilometer - making it the second smallest country in the world after the Vatican.

With a blue-and-white flag (adding two triangles and claiming it for rights), Daniel - now known as "President Jackson" - established the Vardis government that even made an official contribution to aid the war effort in Ukraine.

His ambitions were to establish a small nation by the end of 2024, but establishing a state is not like finishing homework - as expected, Daniel encountered quite big problems on the way to realizing his dream.

Daniel told the SUN: "It started among a group of friends just to see if we could do something environmental. Then it progressed to become a more and more developed country. It slowly took shape to what it is today and we have more and more goals and functions with over 15,000 people trying to register to be our citizens. We wanted to see if we could create an example of a small country that is functioning well, aware of the environment, and then it just progressed to become a bigger humanitarian country. We have provided a lot of aid to Ukraine and we are trying to provide humanitarian aid to other countries as well, but we are limited in some of our resources right now." .

Wardis-Croatia war

In his mission to establish a new state, Daniel found himself at war with the Croats.

He and his fellow residents of Vardis were forbidden to set foot on the borders of Croatia, after they were arrested by the police and removed from their country.

Ultranationalist groups also tried to keep Daniel away from realizing his wildest dreams.

He said: "On October 12, the Croatian authorities entered our permanent settlement and arrested all of us in what we consider a violation of international law, as the land is not owned by Croatia. It was never part of the Republic of Croatia. They took us out of Vardis into Croatia before expelling us from the country And we were forbidden to go back to it. We believe, as I said before, that this was a violation of international law and we are currently working on taking things to court. There were quite a few people who were preparing to move to Vardis and protect the land. I think when it started there were about six of us and it was expected That it would progress, but then everything stopped."

Vardis is a tiny island surrounded by water.

That means the only way to get to it is to take a boat 9 km from the nearest port of Aljams. This did not stop thousands of people from wanting to be part of the project. Daniel and his friends, residents of Wardis, are looking for people with a passion for community building and those who enjoy an off-the-radar lifestyle Technically

,

over 400 people are now considered citizens of Vardis. In order to "shape a sustainable and prosperous society", Vardis selects only people with the right skills and attitude to live there and build a community. However, they were forced to cancel all "early settlement visas" for its citizens after Croatia decided to claim ownership of the land back.

This is how the war with Croatia began:

Daniel has also been working hard behind the scenes by increasing his nation's profile alongside other countries, but also increasing his online presence.

He regularly posts on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram about Wordis and has gained hundreds of thousands of followers who invest in the project and its exciting journey.

He added: "Our goal once we return to Israel - because the Croatian police did expel us - is to be a fully developed nation-state. We have a small land. We are only a little bigger than the Vatican, so we are limited in how many people we can add for a comfortable standard of living. But The long-term goal is to have a new elected government and a recognized country, and continue from there to bring in permanent infrastructure. We had hoped to finish a lot of this within five years, but infrastructure can always take longer. It took even longer because of the situation with the authorities in Croatia. The situation is a bit unpredictable Right now it's about when we can get these goals back on track."

When asked what the hardest parts of establishing a state were, Daniel said: "I think the hardest part was getting access to the land, meaning getting there. We did our best to build positive relationships with the locals and that takes a lot of time and effort. My friends and family are quite supportive of it and the reception is mostly positive, But the only problem we've really had is with ultra-nationalist groups that have attacked us in the past and threatened us. I understand that this is part of the job. We knew that things like this could happen, knowing that this part of Europe is particularly sensitive. I wouldn't say that all of this was easy, to be honest."

He added: "We are dedicated to humanitarian work and want to be a neutral, non-problematic region in the Croatian and Serbian region. I would be happy if you would join us because we want to make a positive change in the world, and we are making good progress. We are also transparent in everything we do, so unlike other countries, you We know where this country is going."
