Erika de Souza Vieira was arrested Tuesday afternoon by police in Rio (Brazil) after taking her uncle in a wheelchair to the bank to have him withdraw the sum of 17,000 Brazilian reais, the equivalent of 3,000 euros. The only problem was that the 68-year-old man had been dead for several hours.

The woman was arrested by Rio de Janeiro police and is expected to be charged with attempted theft by fraud and breach of personal integrity. She told them that she had been her uncle and was arrested at the scene by Brazilian police. She faces up to 13 years in prison if found guilty of attempted theft. She has been released on bail and is being held in custody until her next court date on November 14. She is being represented by lawyer Eduardo Gómez de Sousa, who is representing the victim's family in the case and has been granted bail until November 15, 2014. The case is being investigated by Brazil's National Prosecutor's Office.
